Curriculum Design

  • Teaching Objectives
  1. Southeast Asian languages: postgraduates are required to complete credits in at least one Southeast Asian language.
     
  2. Studies on Southeast Asian government and society: interdisciplinary courses in Southeast Asian politics, society, and culture.
     
  3. Enterprises and industries in Southeast Asia: international business and industry development related courses.  

 

  • Credit Requirements:
  1. Students are to complete required courses such as Research Methods in the Social Sciences, Southeast Asia Case Study, Thesis Writing, Southeast Asian Languages, overseas project-based learning program (at least an accumulative of 2 months experience in any Southeast Asia countries).
     
  2. Southeast Asian Language course are compulsory. Students can choose one of the languages (Thai, Indonesian or Vietnamese) as major to study. Other Southeast Asian languages are also available for selection while students are encouraged to take language proficiency test (language courses can be waived with corresponding language test).
     
  3. Courses are categorized into two modules: Module of Governments and Societies in Southeast Asia and Module of Enterprises and Industries in Southeast Asia. Based on students’ interest, one module can be chosen as major and the other as minor.
     
  4. Students are required to complete a project-based learning program (at least accumulative of 2 months) in any Southeast Asian countries. Oversea program can be carried out through either exchange student program in sister universities, oversea internship or master thesis or research based oversea case study. A maximum of 9 credits can be transferred from oversea programs.
